Do you charge late fees if I return my books after the due date?

We do not charge fines for most books; however, fines may be accrued for late Interlibrary Loan returns. Please contact the Interlibrary Loan Specialist or dagan.bond@athens.edu for more details. Fines may be accrued for late course reserve materials. Please contact the Information Desk at (256) 216-6650 for more information.
Fines of $10.00 or more will result in academic sanctions and suspension of library privileges. Athens State University students' grades will be held and they will not be able to register for classes until fines are cleared. In addition, students will be unable to add or drop classes, cannot graduate, or receive diplomas or transcripts until fines are cleared.
