What are ebooks and how do I access them?

Answer

Electronic books or ebooks are digital copies of books, usually in either a PDF or EPUB format. The Kares Library's ebooks can be found by searching the library catalog in the "OneSearch/Books" tab on the library homepage. Individual collections can also be searched by going to Library Databases. ebooks can be downloaded or "checked out" for reading. When the load period is over, the ebook will automatically be deleted so you do not have to “return” the it.

Kares Library ebook collections:

  • Ebook Central Education eBooks
  • EBSCOhost E-book Collection: on all subjects. Set up an EBSCOhost account to download ebooks.
  • O'Reilly Higher Education: geared toward computer science and business students. **This requires a different login than other library resources. You will use your email address and create your own password.

To download an e-book to your computer, you may need Adobe Digital Editions. This is not required to view the PDF in your browser.
